Hi Everyone,

I need help planning a fancy date, where my boyfriend and I gets to dress up. I do have reservation at a nice restaurant, but the only time I was able to get an available table was a 9:30pm. Where can we go dressed up around 7pm while we wait for our reservation in Copley? We're celebrating our birthdays, and I'd love to do something special for the both us. I am budgeting around $400 the most for this outing. This will be a first for the both us. Thank you in advance

Jen

Go get drinks and listen to live music at Top of the Hub. Great view, decent drinks at higher but not break-the-bank prices.

Select Oyster Bar is a good stop for a dozen oysters and a good drink before dinner.

You could get a cocktail at Sorellina or M Bar at the Mandarin too. Both are fairly upscale and would be a nice atmosphere. Abe and Louie's is right there too. Also pretty upscale. Honestly, if you wanted to do a little less upscale for a drink, nobody would think it's odd that you're in nice clothes at any bar around there.

2nd vote for Top of the Hub. its in the top of the Prudential Building and will really add to the experience. As far as the before the reservation, I'm not sure quite what you're looking for, but Newbury Street has a lot of little spots for coffee and whatnot.

thanks everyone, lrfox, edwardsyzzurphands, idothisoften, alidmc- I really appreciate the suggestions. It's top of the hub where I have reservations at 9:30pm. I just wanted us to do something else before dinner, but we will hang out at the lounge for an hour until dinner. Thank you so much for the names of the other venues, now I have a list of places for reference that I can go to next time I want to do something like this again.

Brasserie Jo, across from Top of the Hub, in the Colonnade Hotel, may also be a good choice for drinks in the future for you or others, as well as City Bar on Exeter St., near/part of (?) The Lenox hotel.
