I don't hold an Ivy League degree but I do hold an accounting degree B.A and an associate database mgmt degree but from a small college in the midwest. What is my chance of getting a job in Boston? I currently have about 6 yrs working experience since college. I am also a minority (African american).

Don't be discouraged the job market is tough right now. And Never give up. The woman who Wrote Harry potter JK rowling was rejected 60 times initially before a publisher took her book in London. She was homeless with 3 kids. And wrote most of her ideas down on napkins. Finally she was able to write out her story on paper! And the rest is history. What if she had given up. Harry potter would never have been known to the world! And look at her now!!!!

Your chances are pretty good. There are a lot of jobs in Boston. Also, remember that not everyone works downtown. There are a TON of high paying jobs around the 128 and 495 belt. Defense and biotech are two really big industries around here.

I would check with your schools alumni department. I guarentee, even though you went to a small school in the mid-west, there are alumni who work in the Boston area.

I think you will be fine.

ALL writers, even Stephan King, get rejected. That is the nature of the business and has nothing to do with the job market. Actually, only being rejected 60 times is pretty low.
