Shiv is on a distinguished road
Default Job inn Northborough: where to live ?

My wife has a job in Northborough. We have a 5 year daughter.

We ar looking for
- Good schools
- Decent suburbs (nice neighborhood, not isolated homes, shops and
restaurants would be nice)
- 600 to 800 K price range

We are debating between 1) Hopkinton and Northborough
2) Northborough and Shrewsbury

Any ideas ?

Schools are good in all three towns. You should be able to find something in a nice development in any of these three towns. In Northboro there isn't a ton of shopping but there are a few nice restaurants and a good day spa as well. You can easily access grocery stores and other shops right up the road in Westboro though, which has three grocery stores, lots of chain restaurants and clothing stores, plus a new shopping development with a few good clothing stores (I believe Ann Taylor is in there.) Shrewsbury has plenty of shopping and restaurants. The north side of town (Spring St school district) is most desirable. Hopkinton has an upscale Italian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant (only fair), and a few sub shops; a small but nice family-run grocery store, a friendly little breakfast/sandwich shop, a pharmacy, and not a lot more but there is a small high-end retail development planned in downtown.

My top picks at the moment for houses in the best areas in your price range:
22 Woodstone Rd, Northboro
41 Keyes House Road, Shrewsbury

Boylston is also a beautiful town, but more of a quiet locale. The Ethan Allen neighborhood is gorgeous and has easy access to Rt 290 & 495.

Best of luck with your search! :-)

Shiv, have you looked at Southborough? Good location, schools, and easy access to shopping and dining in Westborough and Natick. I love it here.

I agree, 2Kids, Southboro is lovely. Plus you have easy access to the Commuter Rail and Mass Pike.
