I knew perfectly well that calling him black would (should?) invite some controversy here...or in the general public. But I tend to get descriptive when setting up anecdotes.

I personally don't like my occasional encounters with him to be honest, black or otherwise. He's very dismissive of me when I ask a question as to whether a product is in stock, is fresh, etc. He even talked down to me when I approached a new display of fresh bread which I think he may have baked and bagged. "Don't you go squeezing that!" Huh? Like I'm trash who'll destroy the entire inventory while squeezing for the perfect loaf? He calmed down after I apologized, kindly saying people often squeeze the product, thus rendering it of little attraction to most shoppers

I know at the Star Market pizza bar, years ago, I noticed they had to put on fresh gloves just to break off a slice and put it in a small box. I thought then that it was excessive, though thoughtful.

At Spinelli's in East Boston, I saw an employee cut tomatoes, peel cheese from a stack, place it on a roll, then pat down the roll before slicing it...yes, sans gloves. That's a ready-to-eat item, so shouldn't she wear gloves?

....

Rather than start another thread and another controversy, what about ice cream scoopers whose hair droops down toward the container while trying to muscle out a pint of ice cream. They should at least need to wear a ball cap? Silly me again...I know..but they may have dandruff, lice or stray hairs? Regardless, even if freshly showered, it's not a good look. I often see this but I'm the only one bothered?

Fire away...

.

Now that you mentioned the ice cream scoopers with head lice, I am totally grossed out. Probably best just to pick up Ben and jerry' at the supermarket and scoop your own at home.

No, you don't need to wear gloves for that.

And I never wore a hair net when I worked at an ice shop in Harvard Square either. Nor gloves.

Nope, I'm not bothered. But you yourself called yourself over sensitive and even look down on people that smoke (which I don't personally like) as low class in another thread.

Yeah, it seems like I'm making these food issues much too complicated at times, but it can get some people monitoring and observing such things.

Doesn't anybody remember the recent Chipotle scare? Or the hepatitis outbresk 15 years ago at a Friendly's in Arlington, a Downtown Crossing Quizno's subs and the Logan airport taxi pool snack bar all in the same periif?

You've given us a lot to think about. I know I'll pay more attention to how food is handled in grocery stores.

Non politically correct description aside, bare hand contact on ready-to-eat foods is a health violation in Massachusetts.

Health and Food Regulations - Massachusetts Restaurant Association | Southborough, MA

I had to be sure, as I'm seeing it too often lately, myself.

To be fair, statistically most smokers are on the lower end of the income scale.

Yes, you've caught me on my "overly sensitive issues" I've complained about here in recent years -- and there have been many admittedly odd ones as you and others have noted. Yes, I have complained about smokers.

It's good that you have a good memory and tend to remember certain posts!

And regardless, it is low class and disgusting.

Well, it depends. Are these ice cream scoopers minorities?
