In Boston schools were forced to be desegregated and students bused across town. It contributed to white flight and the move of families to the suburbs. Suburbs were able to keep their neighborhood schools. That's not entirely fair how the suburbs are allowed to have segregated schools while Boston is forced to desegregate and bus students around town.

Far from racist, snobby yes.
First of all, I was sarcastically responding to a dumb post.

Secondly, Just because there are European, asian, russian, eastern european, hispanic, Indian people in Newton, doesn't mean there isn't racism. That's patently ridiculous. Dorchester (where I live) used to be Heavily Jewish. Throughout the 60's and 70's as Dorchester was redlined to become the next AA area of the city, the Jews couldn't flee fast enough. Guess where they went.

Some cultures value education above everything else, i cant speak to your example but if the schools became progressively worse then no one should make them feel guilty for trying to provide the best education for their child.

If the schools were bad before they moved out then yes, what you are implying is absolutely correct...

It was not because of the schools.

They are "allowed" because Boston had a high minority population and those areas of the city didn't receive equal funding for their schools. Suburbs had very few minorities and those kids went to the same schools as any other kid.
