I think you're right in that the only people who care about Boston are the people that actually live in Boston and have the money, brains, time and desire to actually change it. Also the companies who hire people are not Boston. They just happen to work for a corporation that is located in Boston.

Georgetown, MA population 91.5% White ((7747 people), 0.4% Black (35 people)

Altercation and alleged use of racist slurs at Georgetown High and Roxbury Prep football game under investigation

A physical altercation and alleged use of racist slurs at a Georgetown High School and Roxbury Prep football game have prompted school officials to launch an investigation.

In a statement posted to the Georgetown Public Schools website, Superintendent Carol Jacobs said a physical altercation during Friday night’s football game involved “players from both teams and several coaches,” and Georgetown police helped disperse the crowds when the end of the game was canceled.

A Roxbury Prep coach Jamaal Hunt expressed his dismay over the incident on Facebook.

“I’m still numb, but this is America,” the post said. “The fact that there was nothing I could do to protect my boys hurt the most. I broke down, I watched racism ruin whats something that was supposed to be good to them, Friday night lights but instead we were ridiculed, called N bombs by players, faculty, staff, spectators and were taunted all night.”

Hunt also wrote on his Facebook page that “racism was at an all time high” and that he was approached by police “for absolutely no reason.”

Cambridge couple questions if they were racially profiled while apple picking at Connors Farm in Danvers Danvers, MA 87.3% white (24,516 people) 1.9% black (525 people)

A Black Cambridge couple are wondering why they were accused of stealing apples by two security guards and a manager at Connors Farm in Danvers and why a responding Danvers police officer said they “were playing the race card” during the incident that left one of their children in tears.

The couple said they spent $100 on food and apple picking at Connors Farm on Monday. Bowman, the vice chair of the Cambridge School Committee, also donated to the Connors Farm charity. But as they were heading to the farm store where they planned to buy doughnuts and cider, they were confronted by two security guards and, soon after, by a person who identified himself as the manager.

The couple had earlier realized their child had picked six apples that did not fit into the farm-supplied bag, an overflow they placed in the bottom of their stroller and expected to pay for at the farm store. “With families being primary customers, surely, we couldn’t be the first to have excitedly over-picked by a few apples — six in our case,” the couple wrote in a blog post about the incident.

^Always a safe bet to avoid an outer ring, heavily white suburbs of Boston. People live there in large part to avoid diversity

I read that story about the cambridge couple a few weeks ago. It's hard to say if it was racism as many other people responded on the facebook page saying the same thing happened to them and some of them were white.

I mean I've gone apple picking a lot of times...and I wouldn't just put apples in my purse and not pay for them. that is stealing. However this particular farm does sound like it needs to chill. They are already overcharging for apples and I"ve never heard of a security guard working at such a venue.

seems difficult to just be like, yup, they were accused because they were black.

Wow? If I had to rank all the towns in eastern MA by likelihood for something like this to happen, Georgetown would be pretty high on the list.

I know absolutely nothing about Georgetown, MA and was honestly surprised to see this ("just a small, quiet affluent North Shore community like the rest of them"). But apparently this isn't the first "incident" there...
