This topic might be too controversial for some. Lol! All my DC friends say, "Washington D.C. is the most intellectual city on this side of the Atlantic Ocean!!!" I fire back, "Hahahahaha...Well, what about Philly or New York?!" They snarkily retort, "LOL! Well, what about them?!?!" They proceed to run down all these statistics and historical references... Yadayadayayaya ying yang.very intelligent people, and institutions that produce some highly intelligent individuals, so I don't understand this obvious disrespect.

OP, I would counter; "well if what if someone just does not care about politics"? Because there are other areas of intellectual discourse that do not involve politics. I would not say that the topic is controversial. Thinking it is controversial, is pretentious. If that is your idea of controversy those are first world issues, IMHO.
