We are hurting down here in Baltimore! We need HELP! Murder rate is through the ionosphere!!! I attend various anti-violence townhall meetings and folks always bring up The Boston Model on violent crime and how it could positively be implemented in Baltimore. keeping violent crime down in the city?!

One statement that pisses me off from some close-minded individuals when I attend community/neighborhood meetings, "That model won't work here! This is not Boston and the mentality of the people are different... So, that sort of policing won't work in this town!" so-called , elected and some law enforcement officials.

The big drop occurred 20 years ago. Something called the 10 point coalition. The model involves cooperation among ministers, community leaders, police and criminal justice people to anticipate and help ward off criminal behavior among likely suspects. The Boston model is offered in contrast to small infractions intolerance and stop-and-frisk police behavior pursued in New York under Giuliani. It worked really well but proved hard to sustain. But no Michael Brown-like cases in Boston!
