Let me start by saying I was born and raised in the state. My family moved away more than 20 years ago for work but would occasionally visit our family who were still there. We recently concluded another visit and I can't seem to shake the euphoric feelings I have for the place. I love the city and the state! Period. Yes, I am familiar with its issues even though I have been away. (My family keeps me updated on everything!) This trip, for me, was like getting reacquainted with an old love and realizing there is still something there. The things I didn't care about before (taxes, winters, crowded, narrow roads, etc.) Are not the deal breakers they once were. I miss the environment, culture, sights, sounds and smells of the place. I miss the people (even the rude ones who gave me a few chuckles during my visit!) I miss the Cape, the islands, the close proximity of other cities in New England and the northeast, the hustle and pride. I realized even though I left the Bay State, it's still deep inside of me.

In my younger days I took all of these things for granted and thought the grass was greener on the other side. Well, I got to explore the other side and found out it was green because it was artificial turf! Now that I am a little older (and hopefully wiser!) I realize the things I love about a place were at home all along. My wife and I are currently in discussions to possibly move back. We will see.

All places have issues but Boston, if it's running in your veins, holds you close. Good luck!

Thanks! We will certainly need it if we decide to move back.
