While we are passing off anecdotes as irrefutable evidence, let me add that I've had 12 roommates in five years (and I've lived in the same house for three years now, seven roommates have come through here in that time).

I have five good friends who have moved out of Boston entirely in the last three years as well. Probably over 10 friendly acquaintances.

I conclude that because most people I know and have met and have lived with have become friends with more than a few people they met as roommates. It's very common. Having roommates is a great way to meet people and help expand a social network when moving somewhere.

So you've had a bunch of roommates. That's normal. I would certainly hope and think you've developed friendships with several.
