Default commute issues help

help, I'm moving to the boston area and I will be working in lexington, I was thinking about moving to the boston area and commuting to lexington but I was told that the commute is ugly between lexington and boston with out a car. I hope to buy a car after a few months. but will my life be hell trying to get back and fourth on public trans? should I just move to lexington for the first year. what's your advise?

Lexington is about 15 miles away from Boston. The commute shouldn't be much of an issue. You could live in Cambridge and the drive would be about a half hour during rush hour, not bad.

The only time it would be bad is for two or three of the major snow falls during the winter, then it might take 3 hrs. I currently live in Bedford, easy commute for work. When I want to go to Boston, mainly on the weekends and a few evenings a month, it's a quick drive. Whether you decide to live locally to Lexington or live closer to Boston the commute isn't bad. Best Wishes to you on finding the right place for you!!

You can take the Red Line subway to Alewife, then catch a bus to Lexington. The question is: Will the bus take you near to where you will be working. Check out MBTA.com > Official Website for Greater Boston's Public Transportation System for bus routes. Good luck!
