I posted that info upthread, but it was deleted. To me, it seems relevant. This whole post is a troll post.

Don't believe the haters. Life in Cambridge is very good. Great environment. Somewhat urban but with lots of trees. Cool and interesting (and smart) people. A wealth of cool events and entertainment. Plenty of high paying jobs. Good public transit (subway line to Boston). Sure, the rents are high, which reflects high demand, for good reason. People want to live there. If the rents are too high there, look in the neighboring towns and cities, where there are bargains to be had.

It's not a real post. He posted this same query in lots of cities, claiming he was moving there.

Waltham, Watertown, Woburn, Everett, Malden, Stoneham, East Somerville, and Medford are all within 10 miles of Cambridge, relatively safe, and have at least some places with reasonable rents. And there's always Quincy, farther but with direct access via the Red Line. I live about 3 miles from Cambridge and pay $1600 for a 2 bedroom, basically half a house with an extra bedroom upstairs. Sure, a lot of the local restaurants are second rate, and I have to take a short bus ride to the T, but its not that different from Cambridge, only more diverse.
