So if renting a black person would cost you money because it may decrease the value of your property? Or the rent in other units of your property, then it would be ok to violate the law?

Whether it does in this market is hard to determine. Maybe not. But it absolutely was used as an argument to keep blacks out of properties, or neighborhoods, historically.

Right, it would probably be done, it is not ok, we must fight it as a society, just like this.

Lead sucks. It's ridiculous that it is still a concern and it shouldn't be costing anyone 20k to remove it from their home IMO just so someone under 6 can live there.

Agreed. And if there aren't (I think there are though) should be government programs to subsidize/help with the removal or remediation.

Agreed. People seem to think that because rents are high landlords must all be rolling in dough and should have no problem dropping 20k for deleading procedures. Like landlords dont pay for any other fixtures or anything else in life.

Its the law whether landlords like it or not, and renters with kids can't get housing whether they like it or not. Contrary to what commies here believe most landlords aren't rolling in dough and can't afford to drop $20k on deleading so they won't rent to families with kids at all.
