Can anyone recommend well lit places for night runs in the Boston area?

I was using a college track but the lights are being left off after nightfall until the fall semester starts.

Someone recommended the Castle Island loop, which is clearly a don't. The causeways aren't lit and once out there, seemingly it could be a mile before reaching the shore. Recipe for trouble.

Any public tracks that are lit and frequented in the evenings? Other suggestions?

How late are you talking? I haven't been down there at night, but I'm guessing the Esplanade. In the summer I imagine it's full of people and is lit. But do you need a track specifically?

Hi everyone,

I'm in Newton. I don't need a track. Just a place to walk or run after dark that is safe.

TY for the suggestions. Will try them!

Danahy park in North Cambridge has a track and many paths. That and Millennium Park West Roxbury and Skyline Park off Hammond Pond Pkwy near Putterham Circle in Brookline are all former solid waste landfills (dumps) converted into nice recreational facilities. As former landfills, they have gentle hills which aids in the workout. Not sure whether enough night lighting to be comfortable, but try Danahy; the track may be lit up-- or call the park department first to ask them.

The esplanade thins out pretty significantly after sunset. There have been multiple attacks on female joggers over the years. I would not recommend running alone there at night.
