Cities like Lynn and Chelsea could be included in Boston to , they have pretty high crime and if made a art of Boston may have stronger gangs than they already do. But as a whole the Boston Metro is much safer, but some years it doesnt do well. 2010-2013 were bad years for the Boston metro and in 2004-2006 Massachusetts had the most violent crime of any state in the northeast.

Boston proper will have trouble reducing the gun violence in certain neighborhoods, from what I've heard were just in a gn flood in the city of Boston. A friend of mine who is an actor/teach at a school in Mattapan told me about some teenage boys looking at and comparing guns at a barbershop in Codman Square last week maybe 14/15. There's also been a surge in YOUTH gun arrests in Roxbury Dorchester this year.

BTW my friend was jumped (attempted jump) near Northeastern, he got on the 28 from Ruggles and he said he was admittedly a little drunk/tipsy-so i guess that made him a good victim.

NYC has more cops and the cops (pre-DeBlasio) had zero tolerance for minor violations.

In Boston seeing a cop do actual police work and walking the streets almost never happens - instead they play on their iPhones at construction sites.

Cops like pulling over on my street for no reason and playing on phones. See it pretty often. The only other place I see them out and about with any frequency is getting pizza or coffee. If able to park in a bus lane or anywhere else a normal person wouldn't be permitted, they will definitely do that.

Yup. Every time I see them on a detail they have faces buried into a cell phone. You could shoot someone right in front of them and they wouldn't be able to ID you.

Nyc has crime but its a MUCH bigger area & population

Any thoughts ??

I moved to Boston from the NYC area three years ago and completely agree with you. I was wondering the same when going through the Boston crime blotter earlier this year. Like you said, a lot of violent crime, especially considering the population size - particularly in Dorchester, Roxbury, and South Boston.

In liberal cities, black on black crime is not considered a high priority. It's a shame there isn't more focus to stamp it out... If only there was a March every time an African American is killed (regardless of the suspects skin color)
