My friend and I are thinking of going on Friday. I've never been to an Outback and I'm in the mood for steak. But the Outback Steakhouse in Somerville, which is closest to where my friend lives, has some poor reviews as well as some good ones. Has anyone gone to this location? Is it clean, the food good? How crowded is it on Friday evening/night?

I went there once, it was a weekday with very few people in the restaurant. After waiting 10 mins without anyone coming to the front to serve us, we walked over to Legal Seafood's and got great service.

Why go to Outback when you have so many other better options for steak in the area? Try Frank;s on Mass Ave in Cambridge. Should be close enough to where you are. Oliveira's is another option. It's a Brazilian style where they have all sorts of grilled meats.

+1.

I have nothing against Outback. It's a good option for areas that don't have good steakhouses. This area however has many good one's. I can't see any reason to go to a chain in the Cambridge, Somerville, Boston Proper, etc. areas.

I've been there. It's what I expected really....neutral experience.

Go to Redbones instead....much better.

2 words: bloomin' onion. tell me another place in the city where you can get authentic australian cuisine and has pictures of kangaroos, boomerangs, didgeridoos, ... on each wall. 5 stars.

Their steaks good? I always thought of it as more of a BBQ place.

I think Outback used to be better, now it's barely average even for a chain (Texas Roadhouse has much better steaks). I suggest going to Jimmy's Steere House in Arlington.

At the moment, I'm leaning towards Frank's Steak House; thanks for the recommendation. I called Outback to try to find out how crowded they get on Saturday evening/night; and could not get a real person to talk to, which is a huge negative in my view. I have a reservation for Frank's but might still change my mind. Do you know if it is difficult to find parking?
