The previous poster might have been mixing up College of Liberal Arts (known as CLA when I was there) with College of General Studies (CGS or "the night school). That school had an open admissions criteria. Often, students who couldn't get into BU academically but really wanted to matriculate there would enroll in CGS and get their AA, then apply and transfer in to another school within the university.
I graduated from the College of Communication (COM, formerly known as SPC) with a minor in Business. I was accepted at some more "prestigious" universities (NYU and Penn among them) but chose BU because of its communication program. BTW, when transferring from one school to another within the university, you have to go through the application process. Granted it's pared down from the outside world application and admission is easier since you're already a BU student, but you are not guaranteed admission into COM or the Business School from Liberal Arts. |
