Hello! My fiancé and I are looking into moving to Boston to begin our careers after graduating. We are unsure of where to search for apartments that are both affordable and high quality in the Boston area, and I hope that you all can assist me in figuring out where to look first!

Agreed and agreed. OP, unless you have family or some other reason to be here, or have gobs of money, consider somewhere else to live. The jobs are good, but the wages don't make up for the exorbitant cost of living and soul-crushing commutes.

My apartment that can easily fetch $2000/month (or $2300 if I give it a fresh coat of paint, toss in some cheap Ikea bathroom and kitchen fixtures, knock down a wall and call it “modern luxury open concept apartment”) would at best be public housing in any other city. Nearby slightly larger apartments that were originally built as factory worker housing rent for $2500+. And I’m talking Dorchester here - add another $500-$1000 a month if you want to live in more fun and fashionable parts of the city. OP, do you want to live in this sort of housing while making six figures, or in even worse housing if you are not?

Again, we don't know what the OP considers affordable. We also don't know what the OP considers high quality.

What we do know is that the OP and his/her fiancé are both going to be working at professional type jobs in Boston, and they can get a 1 bedroom apartment. This gives them a lot of good options.

If the OP comes back and lets us know their budget, we can point them in the right direction.
