Hi all! Thanks in advance for any advice you could give. I currently live in Falls Church, VA (10 mins outside of Washington D.C.) and MIGHT be moving to Boston this summer (boyfriend has a great chance of getting a graphic design job up there). Since moving down here in 2006, I have been working at Freddie Mac, a 2ndary mortgage company, in their IT department. I was wondering, how is the IT job market in Boston? Will it be easy for me to find work?? Any ideas on how would be the best way of finding a job other than Career Builder or the internet??

Any advice would be great!

Thanks!

I did the reverse of what you are doing - I moved from Boston to Falls Church, VA (then later Arlington)!

From growing up in the Boston area, it is the 2nd best major metro area in the U.S. for tech innovation and IT jobs; with Silicon Valley being 1st, of course.

While there are certainly many IT jobs in the actual city of Boston, you will find the hottest IT companies clustered along Route 128. This is the highway that loops around Boston, and it is even called "America's Technology Highway."

For starters in your job search, I know of a professional organization called MANTA that publishes a full listing of all 1,637 (wow!) technology companies in Massachusetts. Check it out at the link below, and let me know if you need any more info on the area! Information Technology Companies in Massachusetts (MA)

WOW! I knew there were IT jobs up there, but I didn't know it was THAT popular! That is great though.

So you said you grew up in the Boston area, huh? I hear it is a great city. Do you agree? Why are you leaving? I'm trying to look over the fact that it is FREEZING up there. I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA...so I am used to cold weather, but I think Boston may be a little bit colder

I am going to have to look into that site that you gave me. I so glad someone knew of something. Thanks!
