Default Daycare costs in the Boston Area

Can anyone let me know if $300 per week is the general cost (more or less) to have an infant in daycare 5 days a week in the Metro Boston area?

I'm looking to move to the area and would like to know this estimate beforehand.

Thanks so much.

$300 is low for boston/cambridge/brookline. I was paying $300/wk for an infant last year at a home daycare and rates go up every year. The centers were more expensive. They were $400+/wk when I was looking for my first (2005). The rates do go down a bit in the burbs.

Last year I was looking for childcare for our future children in an attempt to gauge future expenses and find an appropriate place to look. I found that for children under 2 in Boston proper, $1800 a month for full time 40-hour a week care wasn't the expection, but closer to the norm. this is $450 a week. For family daycares outside of Boston proper, it was closer to $400 a week, but I found that some of these places won't take them unless they are potty-trained. good luck. it sure is expensive!!! i know of some nurseries but they aren't full-time for little ones (three days a week half days) and even they run $7000 a year (for three half-days!)
