Scofflaws flout early attempts to curb dirt bikes, ATVs in Franklin Park

https://www.bostonherald.com/2021/05...franklin-park/

"Electronic message boards brought in to remind drivers of off-road vehicles to stay off the footpaths at Franklin Park or face fines appeared to have little effect on Sunday as dirt bikers sped past — ...
The message boards are part of what Parks and Recreation Commissioner Ryan Woods called a “pilot effort” in dealing with unruly all-terrain vehicle and dirt biking activity at Franklin Park.
In an email thread with residents, Woods said the Parks Department deployed several speed bumps on paths throughout the park, but he is making no promises to frustrated residents.
“Our Chief Rev Mariama (White) Hammond has heard from some folks over at Olmsted Green on the American Legion side who said the speed bumps have caused more issues and been used for jumps over there, so we will monitor,” Woods wrote in the email.

Neighbor Oliver Young praised the measures, thanking city officials for “taking an experimental ‘test and learn’ approach.”
City officials deployed the electronic message boards and speed bumps at Franklin Park this week, taking initial steps to curb what neighbor Dorothy Fennell called “out of control” motorcycles and ATVs that she says pose a threat to public safety and degrade park users’ quality of life."
