Hi

I want to move to Boston MA preferably near the beach, any suggestions on safe area/neighbourhoods for an Irish family with two elementary age children? I am a qualified primary teacher from Ireland and hoped to get work in an elementary school in the area. would love to speak to someone who has recently made the move too. any info would be gratefully appreciated.

What is your budget?

Scituate, MA is the most Irish town in America. Its about 49% Irish American and close to 2/3 British+Irish American.

Visa can be very hard to get. Look into that first.

Unless there is a partner involved OP is going to have a hard time (euphemism) getting a visa as an elementary school teacher.

Also, if there isn't a partner involved get ready to be lower middle class as a school teacher with 2 kids.

Hi thanks for the replies, yes partner involved but no qualification but own a successful business here. But for buying my budget would be around $350000ish!

If you want to rent for a while, check out Dorchester; Neponset, Adams Village, or Quincy.

To clarify, Neponset and Adams Village are sections of Dorchester which is a part of Boston. Quincy is its own municipality. All of those areas are close to beaches. Not world-class beaches by any means, but not bad for an urban setting.
