Default Best way to get from Lowell to South Station at night

Hi,

I need to get from Lowell Station to South Street by the last train on Friday night in a few weeks from now (for about 5 weeks). I plan to take the Fung Wah bus from South Street to Chinatown, NY overnight on Friday night and return the nexk evening. I found that I might be able to follow this schedule:
1. Park at the Lowell Station overnight (I can do that, can't I?).
2. Take the commuter train to North Station.
3. Take the T from North Station to South Station.
4. Take the last (at 11:30 PM) Fung Wah Bus from South Station to NY.

Return the same way on Saturday evening.

Can anyone find any holes in these travel plans?

Thanks in advance,
Srinivas

Default your commute

Hi,
I have no idea if you can park overnight at the Lowell commuter rail station.
Be aware that it takes a while to get from North Station to South station, since there's no direct train line between the two. You probably would take the Orange Line or Green Line from North station into Downtown Crossing or Park St and then transfer to the Red Line out to South Station. A guesstimate is maybe 15-20 minutes to get from North to South Station. Re. Fung Wah, in the past they had a reputation for overselling their seats, but I have no idea if they still do this, and assume that the 11:30pm but is probably not full anyhow.

You CANNOT park overnight at the Lowell commuter rail station unless you have a monthly pass AND then you have to get a note from the cashier guy going in and put in on your windshield and then pay when you get back. BETTER WAY is to park at Logan Express, on Commerce Way in Woburn (I think it is $12.00 a day) and take the train from there, get off at North Station, take Orange line to Downtown Crossing, go downstairs and take red line one stop to South Station and take escalator up to the top of South Station. DON't use your cell phone on theplatforms or on the T. People that do get robbed sometimes especially late at night. It does take anywhere from 20 minutes but probably more like a half hour to get to South Station and then you have to find the bus. Have a nice trip.
