And hotel stays are much more expensive than getting into an apartment share situation for a few months.
How much would the apartment share situation be?

If you want to go to beaches within the city, I recommend the Boston Harbor Islands. The T operates ferry boats which make short (20-30 min) trips out to the harbor. You'll be able to enjoy a nice, clean sandy beach with great views of the city!

I'd also like to hear what your budget is and how many days/weeks you want to stay in Boston, what your transportation situation is, how many trips you plan to make in between Boston and Salem, in order to give you tips that fit your needs a little better.
Okay, where are they?

Okay, thank you!

Two weeks? What do you say about that...

Crane's Beach is in Ipswich, MA and Singing Beach is in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA. Both are accessible by commuter rail. Check mbta.com for which line you need to take and to look at the schedules.

What is your budget for two weeks? How much do you think you can spend each day with food, transportation and lodging?

Ooh okay, thank you. How far from Boston?

Hmm it depends on where I stay. I am not sure yet since I may have to move out cause my parents dont want me going to school in nyc but I will go when I have enough - like a couple thousand to spend.

In that case, I don't recommend staying at a hotel. If you're moving out, you might as well look for an apartment to sublet for short term on craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums. Four or five days in hotel costs roughly the same for renting a room in an apartment for a month!

If you can't find a sublet, I also recommend the Youth Hostel on Hemenway Street (HI - Boston :: Hostels to Reserve in the United States (broken link)). It's right in the city near Berklee College of Music, very close to the subway/bus lines, restaurants, and shopping on Newbury Street, with lots of people there around your age. There is also a hostel on Commonwealth Ave, essentially on the campus of Boston University. Hostels are not as glamorous as the $300 per night hotels nearby, but probably the smartest choice given your situation.

Boston is mega money, and the atlantic is real cold water. Cape Cod is the beach, now summer is gone! The economy also is real bad. to really rent
when young, it is hard. You may need a deposit of 2,000. and no late parties. Then you do need a job for money? Anyway, now jobs
with only high school and the summer will not give you the money? Maybe New Hampshire, beaches and snow if you wish to stay. It is not Boston.

Why don't you just call up that hotel directly? Rates change depending on the season and what conventions are in town.
