Winchester, Marblehead, Topsfield?
We will soon be relocating North of Boston. I'm working in Salem and Lynn. We will have a high school sophomore and a 7th grader. Looking for housing between 700k to 1M. Based on schools and commute times, we have narrowed things down, but still have several communities in mind....
Those include Winchester, Marblehead, Swampscott, Middleton, Reading, Lynnfield, and Topsfield. Can anyone offer advice on which might be best, or which to steer away from? We would like a friendly community, that would welcome newcomers.
Thanks for your help!

If you are working in Salem and Lynn the easy commutes would be Swampscott and Marblehead for sure. I live in Winchester and it is probably the furthest from work of any of these towns but still very doable. The commute from Winchester to salem or lynn is akward but not especially far- it'll probably run you 45 min depending on where exactly you're working.
All these towns are great. Topsfield and Middleton seem to be the odd ones out in that they;re much more rural than Winchester, Marblehead, Swampscott, Reading, and Lynnfiel.

Out of the towns mentioned, IMO Lynnfield and Winchester stand out. While your money might not buy as much house in Winchester as it may in other towns, the schools are great, lots of recreation, good shopping and restaurants

I agree with Wererabbitt. If you can afford it, I'd take Marblehead 1st and Swampscott distant second. The others are non-starters compared to these two. MH is my favorite ritzy suburb in Bostonia. Swampscott is cute too. Big advantages? Both are on the ocean. Both are better for beating traffic. And MH has one of the best historic neighborhoods in New England, possibly the USA. It also has a Marina and a beach.
