Actually in the hood they're not really tripping off of things like sports to that degree. I'm from NY and I've spent plenty of time in the hoods of boston during the height of the gang situation where the kids repped their set by sports team and never got confronted on based on wearing NY appearal. Matter of fact at the end of August each year is the West Indian Parade on Blue Hill Ave and you will see the whole place full of NY'ers

I know the Yankees are known as a gangster team, but I'm sure a lot of people still wear Red Sox stuff in the hood in Boston, MA, right?

Do you see a lot of Celtics jerseys being worn during that parade? You at least see some people in Red Sox stuff during the West Indian parade on Blue Hill Avenue, right?

When I visited Boston in 2005, one thing I noticed is that one difference you could tell between blacks and hispanics, is that hispanics were always in Yankees stuff, and blacks were always in Red Sox stuff.

Was it two gangbanger guys who did that to you? Also, the reason why I say it would be dangerous to wear Yankees stuff in the hood in Boston is this: Manny Delcarmen grew up in Hyde Park (which has parts of it that are in the hood), Boston, MA. His brother was a Yankees fan and Manny Delcarmen said his brother would get beat up on a regular basis by the neighborhood kids for being a Yankees fan.

I got more than dirty looks at the last Sox game I went to. I guess wearing an Orioles cap is a no no.

by all the posts, from what it sounds like, you'll be fine wearing Yankee stuff, as long as it isn't Yankee stuff that bashes the Red Sox, for instance, shirts like "Got Rings," "Boston Sucks," and "Red Sux." I also wouldn't wear a Johnny Damon t-shirt, as a Red Sox fan myself, personally, I'm over the whole Johnny Damon going to the Yankees, but other fans might not be, so I wouldn't wear a Damon shirt or jersey in Boston
