Me and 2 of my friends are thinking of moving to boston, we dont want to go to NYC, we are all from NY and figure Boston sounds fun and a good change of pace. We are looking to be by the beach and find jobs and just experience something new. We have just graduated from college with a BS..... where is a good and relatively cheap place to live?? We have been searching on craigslist but are not sure which towns to go for.

It really depends on how close to Boston you want to be. There are several great beaches on the commuter rail that are easy to access. I have been to Crane Beach in Ipswich. It is a great beach, soft sand. It does get packed though. The beaches in Gloucester and Rockport are very nice too. Most of those beaches on the North Shore are easily accessible by the commuter rail. So you can live anywhere in Boston that has easy access to North Station. Here is the MBTA site:

I would probably recommend The Fenway, if you want cheaper and do not mind being further away from downtown Boston, I would recommend Allston/Brighton. Those areas are full of either recent grads or college kids. I love the Fenway, it is a bit spendy but it has some great greenspace and great restaurants and decent bars. Allston/Brighton does have great restaurants and bars too. All of the places I mentioned are on the greenline, which would bring you to North Station, so you could get to the really good beaches. Just a warning the 'B' line tends to be slow, so very slow, another reason I recommend The Fenway. You should be able to find some three bedrooms in any of those areas. If you can, visit the city for a few days, the international hostel is right on Hemenway Street. You can check out the areas. Here is there website:
