Yes. The 501 runs downtown and the 503 runs to Copley. They are good options if you are strictly a 9-5 person. I stayed a few weeks with a friend and used them, but ultimately decided against taking a place in Brighton though I like the area a lot. The last bus outbound is about 7:30 PM. I frequently did not get out of work in time for that, and didn't want to be stuck getting home the other ways if I had to work late or wanted to go out with people downtown.

Also, the last morning bus in is about 9:30 and that didn't work on days where you have a doctor's appointment or whatever.

I think the T would get more riders if it expanded the service. Not everyone is on a strict schedule of being home in Brighton by 7:30.

Same here--I live in Cleveland Circle and like Brighton Center, but wouldn't move there due to the commuting issue. I don't have a car, and trying to get anywhere besides downtown, or even downtown at off-peak times, would be too much of a hassle.

Yep, it's done - Best Buy, Longwood Steakhouse, Coldstone, REI, Staples, Fresh City in there, plus BSC. Bed Bath and Beyoncé is behind it and the movie theater is there also. The parking lot formerly across the street from it is now a huge luxury apartment building with shops and the above mentioned restaurants there... Cambirdge 1, Burton's Grill, a Smoothie place and I think a FedEx/Kinkos kinda place.

Now the big project is the newer building on Boylston Street with a bunch of new apartments and the Fenway Community Health Center moving in during 2009. The old WBCN building is also being gutted and (if the rumors are true) it will be the new Red Sox offices.

And of course the Avalon/Axis complex is rubble now to make way for the huge concert/entertainment thingy that will replace it.

LOTS of change in that area for sure.

Wow thanks for all the good information. Seems like there are just little areas to avoid, so the best bet is to go and look for myself. I would really love to stay in the Fenway area (Me and my wife are rabid sox fans).

Once again thanks fro the information
