All the negative nancies bashing Orlando clearly have only been to the tourist areas or are repeating what they've read in Wikipedia. Orlando is so much "younger" when compared to Boston. A city only 150 years old can hardly be compared to a city that has had over 400 years to develop. So of course, Boston will have more history than Orlando. Sheesh!
Orlando is a growing city, full of northern transplants. So there is obviously SOMETHING right about this town or else so many of you would NOT move here. No, our museums and arts scene does not compare to Boston's, but again, this is a young city with hundreds of talented artists and musicians. One just has to go beyond Disney and Universal to see them. Contrary to popular belief, the CITY of Orlando has a vibrant arts scene. The Orlando Fringe Festival is the oldest and largest Fringe in the company...all made up of artists from around the entire US. So again, something must be going right around here...
I loathe city vs. city threads. It seems some people start these under the guise of "...we're thinking of moving, so which one should we choose..." only to want to see people compare apples to oranges...or in this case Beans to Oranges.
I've lived all over this country and I prefer Orlando. Those who don't like it here are free to LEAVE and they can take their bad attitude with them. There's always Miami if u want a party atmosphere.

Florida I think might be a better place to raise children. The weather is MUCH better there. Boston has more to do, it's more of a European city, and has a great public transit system. Overall, Boston is more of a "real city", but it all depends on what you are looking for.

I'm not going to bash Orlando, but I've lived in Fl. for years and the only thing in my mind that I think is better than Boston???...the taxes.

Is Orlando a city?
I always thought of Orlando as a place you had to fly to to get to Disney.

The weather sucks here. Look outside, it's august... That would be the main selling point for Orlando. Boston there is a lot of stuff to do, but so is the in Orlando. Honestly they are both great places to live, it's all about your personal preference.

There are many beautiful beaches north and south of Boston. There are also mountains, seafood, cultural attractions, professional sports... It's also a shorter flight to London for visits.
Florida is very hot and has a very wet rainy summers with hurricanes too boot. Boston and New England have some very nice weather, some hot, some cold. Boston is one of the safest big cities in the US and the suburbs are generally very safe. There are lots of suburbs with excellent public school systems.
Move to Boston then visit Florida in the winter. It's only 3 hours from Boston by plane so its easy to make the trip if you get cold.

Totally disagree. I'd even disagree if "Boston" meant only the city itself. Warmer weather does not alone educated, cultured kids make.

This is an easy choice. If you want a city atmosphere, choose Boston. If you want a suburban atmosphere, choose Orlando. Orlando outside of its downtown has nothing urban about it, whereas pretty much the whole city of Boston and its immediate surrounding suburbs are very urban. Of course you could still outside of Boston in a suburb and be able to enjoy the city, whereas in Orlando you can't really.

--- like someone else said, having good weather doesnt determine how well u raise your kids. its all about the atmosphere. i definitely think boston is a better choice just for the culture, different ethincities and history. orlando doesnt offer any of that.
