Anne-Catherine is on a distinguished road
Default Utilities

Hi,

We are currently living in Belgium and will move in Boston in October. We would like to find a 3 bedrooms appartment in Arlington area. Do you have any idea of average monthly cost of utilities?
I try to find some informations on the forum, but didn't see any... probably didn't search enough. I appreciate your help.

Anne-Catherine.

Nstar.com might shed some light, so to speak. They're the principal utility-service provider in Greater Boston. As is the case with many things, the cost of gas and electricity around New England is higher than that of much of the US. But it'll probably seem like a bargain to a Northern European.

FYI you ought not to rent or buy housing that's heated by electricity or oil. The price for both is now considerably higher compared to natural gas. NStar allows one to be on a "budget" plan for gas bills, meaning that you pay an equal amount for each month rather than a good bit more between November and March than during the remainder of the year.
