Default Moving to Boston from UK

Hi we are planning on moving to Boston from the UK in the New Year with two kids of 2 and 4 years of age. Our number one concern is schools and workmates are recomending Newton. We have a maximum budget of 1 million for a house but would rather spend less. It seems property taxes are also lower in Newton than Boston itself at about 1%? Are there any other comparable areas with as good schools on the train line that offer an easy comute etc. Thanks for any feedback.

The town of Wellesley is also lovely with very highly regarded schools and good train access.

Tax rates for residential homes:
9.7 = Newton
9.18 = Wellesley
10.97 = Boston

ukwoman is on a distinguished road
you'll be happy in Needham. It's next to Newton and Wellesley and has good schools as well. You will also be able to get a nice house in your price range!

Thanks for all the information. I will look into all areas in the next couple of weeks when I visit. We are especially hoping to find somewhere that we can walk to all local shops and station from.

Another possibility would be Winchester. It depends on which train line would be most convenient to where you need to be in Boston.

Another possibility would be Winchester. Nice town, plenty of neighborhoods near the train and downtown.
