HaHa I am from Philly and moving to Boston and i do or know what more than half of these things are. Sorry but the #1 will not be me I have to stay with my Phillies and Flyers, However Red Sox were my favorite as a kid.

Can someone explain why "spa" means a convenience store and/or little sandwich store and/or cafe in the Boston area (or at least in my neighborhood)? For example -- the Oxford Spa and the Montrose Spa (both in Cambridge). Or the Brookline Spa (pizza in Brookline), Lenny's Spa (East Boston), et. al.

Jimmy10, are you saying that you don't know half the items on the list, or that even though you are not from Boston you DO know at least half?

By the way, I wouldn't expect your sports loyalties to be a problem. Bostonians tend to have a such a deep loyalty to their teams that I think around here people will respect fans that remain true to their longtime favorites more than those who jump onto the bandwagon of whatever team is hot at the moment. And at least for the moment, given the probable World Series matchup, there will most likely be many honorary Phillies fans around Boston for the next couple of weeks. Congrats to your team and its fans on a second straight pennant.

If our erstwhile opponents from Orange County don't get their act together real soon, I'll be buying my first Phillies cap. My colleague the diehard Mets fan is having major agony right about now, and will support the NYY if need be, but that is just not an option for me.

I will since Boston is out root for the Angels or the Phillies! However, Boston did mess up this year! Also go Phillies! I hope you win this year!
