Default K-6 Elementary, commute to Boston

How can I find out which cities/towns within commuting time (1 hour or less) to Boston, Mass General, have decent elementary schools w/grades K-6 or 1-6 on the same campus?

It seems that most public schools are broken up w/grade 6 being in a middle school.

I hear the Charter schools have waiting lists, does this ring true w/anyone?

Thanks.

Yes, the good Charter schools would have waiting lists.

As far as the public schools, you can research on this site: MCAS - Boston.com. It lists all the schools in a particular city/town, what the school performance is like, and also what grades are included in the individual schools. You can easily tell if 6th grade is in middle school or not.

The exception to this would be a town where the elementary schools are located all on one campus, even though there may be seperate buildings housing different grades (like my town). So you may have K-1 in one building, 2-3 or 4 in another, and 5-6 in another, but they share the same property.

thanks for the replies.

I found a website, SchoolMatters.com which allows one to search all public high schools in the country. It's a good starting place if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the other link, I will check it out.

Manchester-By-The-Sea's elementary school is in one building. Not sure if grade 6 is at the middle/high school or not though.
