Question Real Commute Times to UMass Boston....

I just checked out google maps and it said that it took 13 min to get from Somerville to UMass. Only picked Somerville b/c I need to keep my options open... and if it's anything like driving in Atlanta, this est time is also @ 3 am w/o traffic, and it's not a holiday or w/in 20 days from a holiday.

What is the commute to UMass (or just the south end in general) from there by:

Car:
Public Trans:

I know that google maps, mapquest, etc lie...so I need the truth from you guys.

Other areas we are considering - Bunker Hill, Cambridge, Charlestown, JP, S Boston, Brookline - no particular reason at this point except location and I can get a 2 bedroom under $1600.

(this move is going to drive me insane)

There is no way to fix "time", cuz it varies. I wouldn't think of living north of downtown and going to UMASS daily if I didn't have to. Find something in Southie, Savin Hill or Neponset and make things easy on yourself. (PS that's my Alma Mater)

If you live near the Red Line, the commute isn't bad. I have friends that lived in Davis Square and did the commute without a problem. Parking at UMass is ridiculous, so I definitely would rethink driving.
