Default Moving to Boston

I am a single mother with 1 daughter in High school looking to relocate to the Boston area. We are looking for somewhere safe and rural is ok. Don't have that much money so somewhere cheaper is needed. Does not need to be that close to Boston but within 100 miles. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Southern New Hampshire. Any town around Nashua would fit the bill.

Freetown, Lakeville, Middleborough, Taunton (the suburban and rural parts), and Berkely are all a bit more affordable than the immediate Boston area. There's also commuter rail out of Middleborugh (a commuter rail line will be in place in Freetown and Taunton by 2016 as well) and Lakeville so commuting to Boston isn't tough.

If you're comfortable with a bit more urban Fall River, New Bedford, Brockton, Lowell, Lawrence, Haverhill, and even Worcester may offer a bit more affordable housing. However, saying that a transfer to public high school in any of these cities is "difficult" is a bit of an understatement. While each of the cities I just mentioned have safe neighborhoods and dangerous ones, even if you find a safe neighborhood your child will be going to school with kids from all of the neighborhoods, dangerous and safe.

I don't disagree with Nashua either.
