^All of the above. North End puts you near the nightlife and shopping in the Fanueil Hall area too, but the Back Bay and South End might be better suggestions

Unless you only plan to go out in your own neighborhood at night, there are a lot of neighborhoods that could work. Do you have any other criteria? How much do you want to pay for rent?

yea agree with ^...you definitely do NOT need a car in Boston, the T is fine, not to mention Boston is tiny and walkable
