Canton v. Pembroke
If you had to choose between these 2 towns, which would you prefer to live in and why?

Part depends on where you have to commute to... Pembroke is nice but difficult to commute from to Boston or the western suburbs...

Canton is not unsafe and the schools there are fine. Plenty of big expensive upscale houses too. What on earth are you talking about?

In Fact...Canton's schools get all 8 & 9 ratings from GreatSchools.net, while Pembroke get's between 6 & 8. Canton and Pembroke are both safe area's, scoring well bellow the U.S average. Finally, the "Gold vs. Cubic z" comparison is incorrect. The median home price and median income are both higher in Canton than in Pembroke. This forum is a great tool, but be sure to verify any information you read here. Good Luck with whichever town you choose!

Canton
I'd say Canton
you'd be right next to the hiking areas, and ski area at Blue Hills...and also close to Hingham's Wompatuck State park.
Transit could be Green line at "Riverside" which is accessible from Route 128
also could take the Commuter rail from Norwood or Dedham Corp stations
into South Station
Pembroke would be harder transit wise, you could possibly take from Scituate Greenbush.

Depends:
Small country feel, I would vote for Pembroke. Pembroke is a big town where you can live very close to the highway or off the beaten path.
A bit more citylike, I would vote for Canton. Also Canton is great for commuting. You are minutes from 3, 93, 128 and the Pike. The Westwood train station is a plus as well.
For diversity, Canton would win.
Closer to the ocean Pembroke but it's not a crazy drive from Canton.

Canton has it's own train stations, no need to drive to Norwood, Dedham or Westwood...
