Yes, there is a bus route that would take you to the Forest Hills station: MBTA > Schedules & Maps > Bus > 34E - Walpole Center or Dedham Line - Forest Hills Sta. via Washington St.

Type in the route #, and it will show the schedule.

Washington St - the longest street in Massachusetts - passes through Norwood Center. The bus route extends to the neighboring town of Walpole. Northbound, it serves the southeastern corner of Westwood before traversing Dedham and then the Boston communities of West Roxbury and Roslindale. If you're getting the impression this isn't the fastest trip in the world, you're correct! When you've reached the northern terminus - Forest Hills Station - there's still a roughly 20-minute ride downtown on the Orange Line. By virtue of this, most Norwood commuters who utilize the MBTA opt in favor of the train line which has several stations in town and goes to South Station.
Service on "the 34-E" also isn't all that frequent, particularly on the weekends when there may be as few as one per hour depending on the time of day. (The "E" signifies that the run is all the way to East Walpole. No "E," and the trip only goes to/from the Boston/Dedham boundary.) But this bus line does cover a lot of territory, so from time to time it's proven quite useful for my car-less self.

On weekends, the trains only run every 2 hours or so.

Is Washington Street really the longest street in the state? That's interesting.

Point taken on the trains, but I suspect the OP was inquiring in terms of weekday commuting.

Yep, Washington St from Boston City Hall to the Rhode Island border in Attleboro is considered the longest continuous street in the Commonwealth. I'd hazard a guess that Mass. Ave from Dorchester to Bedford ranks pretty high if not at #2. But we digress.
