Would anyone know where I might find a list of those who graduated in 1948 from the Nathaniel Bowditch Elementary School on Green Street in Jamaica Plain?

Call up the school department and ask if they have an archives department that might have such a thing. You might want to look for some type of yearbook if there are any. You might have to look hard because they tend to be quite bureaucratic and might give you a run around.

Lists of graduates of now defunct schools, especially elementary and middle schools, are especially hard to find so good luck.

Thanks. Will be in Boston June 11-21, and may encounter a sympathetic employee at the school department.

Good luck again. Remember what I said, the Boston Public Schools are very bureaucratic and the first person you will most likely speak with is a bored or tired out receptionist who doesn't have a clue what the heck you're talking about. Be very patient and you will find the right person and the information you want.

An e-mail to the school superintendent's office triggered a response advising that the records I seek "do not exist". I accept that information as a further challenge to pursue my quest.
