I LOVE rodents and used to feed the squirrels at the Common all the time! never been bitten, even had a few crawl up my leg w/ no warm. of course, if you are wary of such animals, I don't suggest anyone feed the squirrels, but they aren't malicious to say the least (plus they're wicked cute!)

as a side not, if you aren't allowed to feed ducks at the Common, I've never seen that rule enforced. I've seen people bring slices of bread on board the Swan Boats to feed the trailing ducks.

don't feed the animals anywhere let them fend for themselves there are signs in the public garden that say dont feed the fowl
