Hannar is on a distinguished road
Default Hennessey's, Green Dragon, Paddy O's, Mr. Dooley's, Durty Nelly's,

Thoughts on these locations? Seems like it may be a bit tourist-y, which is fine since I'm a tourist, I just want to know what kind of atmosphere I'd be walking into. Looks like most all of them are located near one another.

Boston's Premier Irish Pubs

Green Dragon is probably less touristy than some of the others. They have a decent menu and not so young a crowd. It's also a nice space inside and the pub has a long history (though this incarnation is not the same as the Revolutionary-era version).

Agree with PP. Also, Purple Shamrock is right in the area and has the BEST clam chowder around, IMO.

Some of these newer pubs are real posers. When the waitress comes by dressed as a leprachaun and offers you a green shot, head for the door.

A few genuine pubs: Plough and Stars in Cambridge. JJ Foley's. The Corrib in Brookline. Doyle's in Jamaica Plain. The Burren in Sommerville.
