This thread and my previous post got me thinking about that sh*thole dump called Southie:

--plenty of Asians have been jumped in that neighborhood for no reason

--there are a couple of bars in that neighborhood that put stuff animal monkeys on the walls during Black History month. I saw this firsthand myself.

The Irish people who live in that area are the biggest group of redneck, white trash I have ever met. I lived in Atlanta for a while and never saw any racism. The trash in Southie are proud of their racism. Truly the most pathetic group of people I've ever seen.

A friend of mine (half-Asian) went to a Rockets vs. Celtics basketball game a few years back in Boston. The Boston fans kept yelling "*****" at Yao-Ming. My friend turned around to see who was using the slurs and trash there started calling her that too.

I know the bar you refer too but think I'm not allowed to mention it plus I could tell you the bar I got told to go home etc but like I said I think I'm not allowed to mention them on here

I've lived in the north and the south so could say the diffences but won't ge into it except to say that if someone hasn't lived down south then they'd find it much more acceptable than the rumours go.

the north in the past has had the problems too

biggest race riots ever in the history was in new york, whe the slaves were freed the whites there didn't like them and thought they were a threat for "their" jobs
how many times do you hear about selma Alabama yet how about the race riots in southie boston where the national guard had to protect the bussers and still now they put there kids in private school.
biggest slave boat building was in new york even during the war and was a few cases after
the north had slavery during the civil war so lets not think the war was to free the slaves
one of the first states to have slavery was massachusetts
only last year the native american was not allowed into boston by law

there's more and could go on but won't

anyway like I said before I believe another big problem is snobbery now

no one is better than someone else regardless of education, money and it certainly isn't acceptable in my eyes though there are some which believe they are because they have money, education say they want diversity yet live in white rich areas. and vote for a balck man. Am I allowed to mention some of those areas in boston and around?

side note
I'm far from being a liberal with what I say and actually feel the party now in charge is now not what it used to be, for the working class, the poor etc and this is one fo the problems
fancy paying rich out of state kids 10,000 $ if they stay in massachusetts paid for by the poorer tax payer of the state(bewildering)

There are people that are racist that are also "progressive and liberal". There were people voting democrat or independent and worried about the environment or animal's rights that wouldn't feel comfortable around "those people"....

"those people" can be any ethnicity.

Default No way!

I am white and from a bi-racial family. I lived in Newton for 25 years and Tampa, FL for 12. I can say that Boston is not rascist at all and I struggle with stupidities of people's prejudisms far more where I am now.

The dutch are the tallest race, by median. I am competitive with decorating my christmas tree, and I feel the dutch are born with an unfair advantage. Don't get me talking about those people.

Otherwise we're all the same.

But you must understand that you lived in Newton, which is definitely secluded from most boston areas in which you can see these things occur. Newtons a very nice neighborhood, btw.

This is my point as well, that most people who don't live around all of this will not see the issues at hand... similar to somebody who lives in "the valley" in California saying "there's no segregation here" but have never lived in Compton or downtown LA neighborhoods.

I myself am hispanic (ethnically mexican), although I'm pretty much assimilated and think of myself as an American... I've lived all over Europe, Japan, the American South, New York and I spent 2 summers in Boston and I can honestly say --from an outsider's perspective--that I experienced no racism in Boston.

The only extremely rare incidents of racism I have ever experienced in my life of all the places I've lived were in the deep South (Georgia, southern Virginia): strangers who would yell random things like "go back to mexico", or "hey Juan!" from their vehicles. pretty isolated incidents

I've walked the streets of South Boston at night with absolutely no problem and the supposedly "racist" Irish Southies were actually a helluva alot friendlier than people in the American Deep South, thats for sure. i also dated a few girls from Southie when I lived in Boston and had no probs w/family or friends

just adding my 2 cents
