My sister and her husband are both doctors and moving to Boston this summer for work. They have a 2.5 year old daughter. They have been looking around the city for 2 BR apts, and they love a loft that they found in the Leather District.

Their concern is they are not sure if it's a safe area. What are your thoughts on this area for a young family? Also, the loft does not come with a parking spot but the agent said street parking is easy to find. Would you say that is true?

They are also looking at an apt in the North End but it's smaller than they like.

I appreciate any info! Thanks.

I would say the leather district is very safe for a young family. I think you can get a resident sticker for on street parking. If not, there's also a parking garage. There was a murder in the leather district 2 yrs ago.

Totally agree! The Leather District is a very hip part of the city. The neighborhood has been flipped into a chic, pricey, downtown living area. Very nice and safe.

I'd stay away from Pagoda Park at night. It's a popular hangout with the crack heads.

From what I understand, they smoke it ironically.
