I've been searching craigslist for the past month and can't seem to find too many places available for a move in date of August 1st.. all July or September! We are planning on coming down to Boston this weekend to find an apartment- any tips on how we should go about looking for one??

Also, any ideas for areas? We really like the Porter Square scene in Cambridge but have found that it most of the time is either a) not in our budget or b) not pet friendly. I will be going to school at Brandeis, so somewhere within a reasonable commute (either train or car as I will be bringing mine.)

Thanks to anyone who can help :-)

It shouldn't be a problem, since vacancy rates are at a 10 year high right now. At this point, you should contact a broker or two and set up some viewings when you visit.
