Question How is Somerville for families with school going kids

I am considering moving to Somerville in a few years. My two main pros are - affordable(kind of) housing and public transport.
Now I am looking to evaluate cons.
I have a family with a couple of kids. I am trying to figure out how is the town for families with school going kids. My kids will be attending public schools as I cannot afford private schools.

Any advice/suggestions from people who are living or have lived in Somerville.

On another note if you can suggest any other towns that I should be looking into it will be greatly appreciated.
