Which cable/internet provider do y'all recommend...Verizon or Comcast?

Why?

We switched to Comcast and so far we like it a lot. Once FIOS comes to my area I might change, I'll see, for now I'm sticking with Comcast for the long haul any way. It's been a good year and a half with them so far, & it's been great all around, there's no complaints here at all. In fact, they just fixed the cable with my little TV today in one of the rooms in our house with just a quick call to them; as we had a thunder storm late yesterday and it got zapped or something. It was quickly handled with no visits from them and they handled it all within 15 minutes by just giving them our number, so I was pretty pleased about that. I thought it was going to be this long conversation with a tech and a step by step approach to getting it straightened out. It was a 15 minute thing on their end and then I just had to unplug the box on top of the TV and plug it back in and voila the cable came back. I had switched from Verizon to Comcast with the TV's cable, the internet and also the land line about a year ago. So far I'm very please I went this route. It's working out just fine so far.

The main reason I switched to Comcast is different than any ones in the state of Massachusetts reasons to switch. In NH there Verizon is now this company called Fairpoint and they're NOT the same to deal with as the old Verizon at ALL. I had switched to Comcast due to this change in Verizon's company. It's been the best thing I did since sliced bread with that whole issue, we're much happier with this game plan. It was also thru talking with other neighbors around me and some more people in the town that I decided to go with Comcast when I heard how much better off they were with it when they switched and that's really when it sealed it for us in the end too.

We had FIOS in our old town and miss it terribly. Fantastic service and much less $ than Comcast. We used their Voicewing service for our office and had 3 phone lines for $70 per month.

FIOS is great, just don't let them cut all the copper wiring!! They will do it with out telling you.

I love for our FIOS just think it is too expensive especially when you start ordering on demand videos. Just opt out of all extras. The quality however is super!

If you can get FIOS go with FIOS, but sometimes Comcast is your only choice.

Thanks, y'all, for the advice...I'm pretty sure I get a choice. I'm will decide further once I call both for pricing/options.

Overall, (based on the posts), it seems like FiOS is the better choice...

anyone else care to chime in?

It still think it's cool/funny that Verizon uses the term "FIOs"...I lived in a Latin American country for several years and this was one of the first words I had to learn due to my initial dealings with maintenance and the cable provider there!

How about RCN? For new place, I can choose between RCN, Verizon, or Comcast.

I'm hearing so many good things about RCN...
