We will be moving to the Boaton area at the end of the summer. We have a 6 month old. We are looking for a family friendly community, 45 minute max commute via train (if possible). We would love some land (2 acres). We woudl prefer the southern/western suberbs and are looking to spend between 750-850k. Does anyone have any advise on which suburbs to look in. I have done some online real estate searching but it does not tell me enough about the towns. Schools are also inportant...any suggestions from anyone???

Sherborn is lovely with large home lots, one of the best school systems in the state, pristine pond for swimming and sailing, and tons of trails/open space. It's a small bucolic community. The commute isn't bad either. I live in town and have relatives with children in school here. There are also a few lovely homes for sale in my sister-in-law's neighborhood, which is my favorite in town for people raising children so please feel free to PM if me if you'd like info on those. It's a pretty small town - about 4,500 residents. We're about 18 miles SW of Boston. Cute historic town center. Not many businesses in town but lots nearby for shopping and so forth. Might be too quiet for some people but to me it is peaceful and just what I was looking for.

Re: commuting from Sherborn, you can take the Commuter Rail from the Natick, West Natick, or Framingham station - they all go into Back Bay. However, I wouldn't use the Framingham station if you're planning to return after dark. It's not a great area. Driving from Sherborn might be easier than the train because you have such quick access to the Mass Pike.
