if its a day game or weekday game you wont have any issue. Just keep in mind there are less frequent trains on Weekends so if its a night weekend game plan accordingly to get back to North station for the commuter rail back to Woburn...

If you have a car...you might consider driving in to Sullivan Square station or Wellington Garage and park there game days its a bit more pricey for parking though at least in the side lot to the left when you exit off the highway....the main lot on the right i believe remains $6.00 all day. CASH ONLY for the SULLIVAN SQUARE lots.

You can get on the 93 south at commerce Way - just up from Mishawum road where most of the hotels are in that area. by the woburn mall . At the light with the target you'll see a sign for the Logan Express/Anderson RTC.. transit center and you'd want to be in the right lanes...to turn right just past the Target to get onto 93 South bound - toward Boston

From here its about a 15-20 minute ride without traffic into Sullivan Square.
When you get to sullivan square exit (It will say Sullivan Square Assembly Row) follow that off to the ramp to the right. and then follow the left Sullivan Square sign
you'll go down the ramp and under the highway merging onto Broadway. From there you'll come up on the transit station and can pull off to the right into the transit parking just past the cab stand with the taxis. there's a side lot on the left if the main lot is full.

Cost again is $6.00 in the main lot CASH only --

maybe a bit more like $10.00 on game days on the left lot...

You can then hop on a ORANGE LINE TRAIN - SOUTHBOUND (INBOUND TRAIN TOWARD BOSTON)
the trains go by the End of the Line. for the signage. So if you are headng in the direction of Forest Hills you take a forest hills train , if you are heading toward oak grove you take an Oak grove train.

In this case you'd get your charlie ticket at the kiosk and cross the platform to the far end and go take the Forest Hills train. Chances are several other red sox fans will be waiting for the game.
you might consider parking @ Sullivan Square or Wellington a bit earlier and maybe grabbing dinner around the ballpark or in the North End or something pre game...on a nice day you could even walk through the city to the ball park (about 45 minute walk from North Station)

When the tran comes.. I would suggest taking the train to North Station. When you get to north station just cross the platform and you'll get on one of the green line trains

Make sure to check the letter of the train that comes.

If an "E" car (Cahh) comes, get on the "E" tran and you have two choices.

1.) GO to Park street, and get off at Park and wait for a "C" "D" or "B " to Kenmore.
or
2.) Go to Copley on the "E" get off and walk to Fenway from there (About 20 minute walk to fenway) down boylston street...at the big church you take a right and follow the road New Ipswich st that curls around and parallels the mass pike it comes out at Jillians and fenway is right there in front of you.
(15-20 min walk from Copley Square) You could mill around copley place mall too , have dinner at the food court or a restaurant there, grab a ice cream or frozen yogurt at pinkberry and browse the shops or go up in the prudential tower skywalk for an aerial view of the ball park =)

Your othe roption would be to get off at Copley on the "E" train and connect to a "B" "C" or "D" to kenmore (2 more stops) follow the crowd to the game.

the other tran you typically get is a "C" train The "C" train is a Cleveland Circle train and that goes directly to Kenmore. you can just grab a seat and ride the entire way to Kenmore

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the game I would suggest instead of walking to KENMORE (KENMORE will be JAMMED) and you'll be waiting in long lines to get your charlie ticket if you didnt get one for your return. ALWAYS GET A RETURN CHARLIE TICKET FARE BEFORE you get stuck in the big crowd ....

To get back , exit the ball park through gate "C" behind the bleachers

Frm here turn right on Lansdowne walk past Bill's Bar, Lansdown Pub, the house of blues, and turn left past Jillians. Wak around to the right on the sidewalk of New Ipswich Street. the Mass pike will be on your left. You can walk under the bridge and then you'll come out at an old church on the corner of boylston street (the church on your right) turn left onto Boylston at the light and then you'll pass a parking lot that is a rip off and charges $40 to park ...:P Head for the Berklee college of Music which will be just across the street diagonally to the left. Cross the street on the side with the cafes/restaurants....you'll come to a big CLOCK....cross at the clock to berklee and turn right. After you pass in front of Berklee College of Music which looks like an old trin station - turn left onto Bellvedere Street. a one way street. Follow Belvedere to PF Changs (chinese) you'll see the two big Lit up horses .out front. You'll come out at the interesection with Huntington Avenue and the Copley Mall will be on your left. You'll see a "T" sign and the green line sign for PRUDENTIAL. Enter the doorway and follow down to the PRUDENTIAL. There is a digital vending machine for snacks on your way down. When you get to the platform you'll be on the "E" Line.
There will be MUCH LESS WAIT TIME here because the crowds won't be there.. from the "B" "C" "D" lines which all PASS THROUGH KENMORE. the "E" line doesn't pass through KENMORE, so you'll have hardly any crowd...except for the folks who know about this time saver like myself. Its worth the 10 minute walk to the Prudential stop for a seat on the train and not to have to wait for 5 trains before you get on and have the tran be jammed.

I would leave right after sweet caroline and head for the "C" Gate exit --by the bleachers. - to get you quickly to lansdowne.

You could also do the CIty bike taxis. they have several bike taxis which could take you up to Prudential. Its fun , but its an extra expense than walking for free.

------

By parking @ Sullivan you wont have to worry about the commuter rail shutting down or what not and the extra expense of the commuter rail and parking at the anderson T you just pay the parking @ Sullivan and the round trip charlie ticket .....

you can load as much $$$ on the charlie ticket as you want - at the terminals so if you go in early to do sightseeing before the game....you can get back on the "T" after.

When exiting sullivan square garage go down the second lane. to the exit.. (Opposite of the garage cashier window). turn left and go on the right lane (It will say do not enter ) but thats for the left lane which is busses only. stay to the right and go straight ..you have to go ACROSS the roadway in front of you back to Mystic ave. then you take a left and head up through 2 or 3 stop lights. past the home depot (which will be on your right) to the RAMP. the ramp will say LAWRENCE 93 North - and go up the ramp onto 93 north and take 93 - 20 minutes back to Anderson Woburn Exit....get off the ramp by the target. and be in the left lane to go to Commerce way back toward the Woburn Mall / hotel area.

Its quite easier than having to worry about the train shutting down if the game runs late and only a 15-20 min drive in without traffic. if you leave in non peak traffic times like before 4pm --(2pm on a Friday) 4pm any other day, and after 8am in the morning on a weekday you'll get in in a breeze.

hope this helps.

Will you have a car with you? If so drive into Sullivan Square for the game and take the Orange line to North Station and connect to the Green line. simple as that. follow the instructions I wrote out above and you'll have no problems or surprises. Just ask anyone and they will more than likely help. I help tourists all the time =)
I work @ TD garden in Guest relations and am always giving directions for the "T" =)

...That's a very long set of posts for someone who was asking for directions 5 years ago. I think at this point they have either found their way or are now one of the crazy homeless people.
