im not very experienced with the US tax system since i just moved into the country. Everyone tells me Mass in general rapes you with taxes. I noticed this since almost 40% of my paycheck goes to the govt! how much are taxes in other states? approx?

Taxes....yes taxes... Compare to NY, NJ and CA we are cheap. hehe.

Good reason... nightlife? I do not see many restaurants open after 1am. Oh yes... we all are in bed by 11pm. Is that why people drive to NY for parties?

You notice one theme in many of the negative comments. Boston is expensive. With the number of private colleges in the area, there are plenty of money. Students who can afford ~$40K tuition can afford a few thousand more in room and board. They drive beautiful BMWs and go out to eat every day. Check out AX on Newbury Street. They dont even bother to find a parking spot. If they run out of money. Just call home! Mom and Dad, I need money.

People who talk about Boston, they do not know what they are saying. Though i live in maine ( unfortunately), i am visiting Boston very often.
public transportation is awesome.
It has huge historical heritage.
Most famous stores in the world.
A lot of intertaiment for all age people.
So many choises for a good education.
Very good income ( who cares about high real estate prices if you make much more them in the other states)
Good luxurious restaurants
etc etc

As mention previously, We love people who can pay! It is great to see so many people lined up at Fugakyu (averaging $40+pp) as if it is free. Come on down.

When you say public transportation is awesome. Can you give some examples of how far you went and how long did it take you? Have you tried going from downtown Boston to Bloomingdales using public transportation? or from Boston College to Harvard?

Boston

I've actually lived long enough to see many part of the US.

One of most beautiful cities in the US
Average taxes
low sales tax
no sales tax on food, clothes, or Rx
better schools than most places
The city is safer than many towns in other parts of the US to say nothing of the suburbs.
competent tradesman
good jobs
great roads compared to most of US
great highway and rail network
