Jobs & Studio Apartments
I'll be graduating with a Marketing degree in about a year or so and I know that big cities hold more opportunities for jobs. I live in Wisconsin right now, but I am checking into other areas of the country that might be appealing.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about jobs in general in Boston. Also, does anyone know if there is a lot of opportunities in Marketing?
Next, I was wondering how much studio apartments generally run in the downtown area or anywhere within 5-10 miles of the downtown. I'm looking for something fairly nice and not run down.
Last, just out of curiousity, do you have many spiders in Boston? Here, we only get small house spiders inside usually and that's only from May-August or so. No matter how small they are, I hate still hate em!

Only small house spiders so really nothing to worry about there. The job market around Boston is ok, i wouldn't say it is great. Many companies have left MA and the Boston area. Probably the most consistent industry in Boston is the biotech industry.
I think you would still be able to find a job, and if you really like Boston then give it a try. The one thing I noticed with jobs in and around Boston is many don't pay well considering the high cost of living in this state.
Studio apartments will cost you from $1,000-$2,000 for anything decent close to Boston.

I think that the Mass. economy is picking up steam. For an area like marketing you can probably do well in certain thriving industries like education, pharmas, biotechs, etc.

I have a couple recent college graduate buddies who didn't have problems getting marketing jobs, though they have experience and went to some good schools, so who knows.
If I was you, I wouldn't look at downtown Boston for rents, it's going to be expensive. I'd look around Cambridge, like in a 2 mile radius around Central Sq. The rents there will be lower and I like the nightlife there more. If you wanna blow money at the bars on Boylston st. you could just take the t there and a cab back.
Alternatively you could look a little outside of downtown, like in Alston or Brighton, though the place won't be as nice.
